More family history!

Tormented by age, health, malicious journalists and left wing politicians one tends to start checking the family archives: Anyhow, this is the tomb of Samuel Gustaf Benedicks at the Protestant (English) Cemetery in Florence, Italy today. Samuel past away young at the age of 40 in 1838. The son of Michael Benedicks in his first marriage and married to Selma Matilda Benedicks. He was my Great Grandfathers Uncle!

Samuel and certain Selma were acquainted with the famous Florence Nightingale. She is called the world's "first nurse" after her contribution to wounded soldiers during the Crimean War 1853 to 1856! There are a lot of correspondence between Selma and Florence published on the web. In the book "Florence Nightingale", the Swedish author Åsa Moberg closer describes this friendship.
